The perfect sound can be found in idyllic Burgenland (Austria)
The horn manufacturer specializes in backloaded horns – horn loudspeakers. Gerald Hüpfel, head of the Jennersdorf-based horn manufacturer, became interested in music as a teenager. Gerald Hüpfel completed his studies in musicology, opera directing and as a sound engineer.
The speakers are available to customers who want something special and the highest sound quality. Horn loudspeakers also celebrate a new sound culture in recording studios. It is important to him that only minimal technology and no sound-changing filters are used, as technology takes away from the music. The efficiency of the horns is 12%, while conventional speakers only have 2%. Therefore, horn speakers convert more energy into sound or music. Even at low volumes you can achieve the optimal sound. Of course, nothing speaks against playback at concert volume with brilliant sound and a unique sound experience.
HISTORY OF THE HORN:
The oldest form of amplification of sound and noise was produced by the horn. The man transformed his hands into a funnel. In ancient times, bells were used on the first wind instruments for acoustic transformation.
In the first cinemas with sound, loudspeakers filled the cinema hall and led to an unforgettable cinema experience with great sound quality. The high-efficiency loudspeakers acted as horns, achieving maximum reproduction with low power. Since then, the principle of the horn has experienced a renaissance!
THEORY & APPLICATION:
Definition of psychoacoustics:
A sterile sound occurs when transients are not reproduced at the correct time. Important identifying features of the instruments are lost. The attack and release times define the sound quality. The recognition of instruments therefore depends largely on the development of sound over time.
The horn manufacturer offers advantages through:
- Horns can convert more sound or music from the energy supplied
- Advantage when using low-power tube amplifiers
- Use of broadband loudspeakers leads to real “live” transmission and realistic reproduction,
At home it sounds like in a concert hall, jazz club or your own recording room
The horn manufacturer was awarded the Golden Ear in 2017 by the trade magazine Audio in the area of floor-standing speakers.
