The Alan Parsons PROject is a legendary British band that celebrated worldwide success in the 1970s and 1980s with their unique mix of Progressive Rock, Pop, and orchestral arrangements celebrated worldwide success. The project was founded by Alan Parsons (sound engineer and producer) and Eric Woolfson (composer and songwriter).

The beginnings and the sound

Alan Parsons had already worked as a sound engineer on classics like ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ by Pink Floyd before he co-founded the Alan Parsons Project with Woolfson in 1975. Their sound was characterized by melodic hooks, profound concept albums, and elaborate studio productions.

Successes and famous songs

The first album ‘Tales of Mystery and Imagination’ (1976) was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe and already showed the cinematic style of the band. They celebrated great successes with albums like ‘Eye in the Sky’ (1982), whose title song became their most famous hit. Other hits were ‘Don’t Answer Me’,‘Games People Play’ and ‘I Wouldn’t Want to Be Like You’.

Heritage and Influence

Although the Alan Parsons Project disbanded in 1990, their influence remained on progressive rock and art rock enormous. Alan Parsons continues the musical legacy today with solo projects, and their songs are still present in movies, series, and commercials.

The box set contains all eleven studio albums, extensively researched from the best available master tapes. I collaborated with renowned mastering engineer Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios to remaster the albums at half speed, achieving the best possible quality Alan Parsons.

Originally released on CD in 2014, The Alan Parsons Project – The Complete Albums Collection is now available in a beautifully packaged deluxe vinyl box set and is limited to 1,500 copies worldwide.

It contains the 11 original studio albums, including The Sicilian Defence album, which they originally recorded in 1979 and had been unpublished until 2014 when it was included in the Complete Album Collection 11CD box.

– All albums at half speed were remastered at Abbey Road and cut from high-resolution files transferred from the best available master tapes, originally using analog, and from the original digital master tapes for all albums from 1983 with everything approved by Alan Parsons.

– Pressed on heavy 180 g/m² vinyl and beautifully recreated covers with original text and images.

– Beautifully packaged in a 'cigarette-type' box with exterior design featuring the words that Eric Woolfson felt best described.

– Contains 60 pages of a 12 x 12 hardcover book with complete song lyrics, brand new sleeve notes, and an essay by Miles Showell, Abbey Road Studios about the half-speed remastering process.

The Alan Parsons Project was a progressive rock music unit, consisting of engineer/producer Alan Parsons and songwriter, musician, and manager Eric Woolfson. They released 10 concept albums that focused on themes like science fiction, supernatural, literary, and sociological topics between 1976 and 1987, selling over 55 million albums worldwide.

Your focus was on a very high-quality studio sound production and they recorded most of their work at Abbey Road Studios in London. They used a variety of different lead singers and musicians on each album, but employed some relatively consistent session players like guitarist Ian Bairnson, arranger Andrew Powell, bassist and singer David Paton, drummer Stuart Elliott, and singers Lenny Zakatek and Chris Rainbow – the choice of who they thought was best for each song, rather than being restricted.
